Her Story

It was a quiet and calm Sunday afternoon in November 2020. The world had come to a halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic. When Carina should have been inside following the quarantine guidelines, she decided to venture out and meet-up with her friend, Kathy. As there were not many options, Carina and Kathy agreed to go to the Vineland Drive-In theater to watch American Psycho. Kathy had recently started dating a new guy named Pedro. As girls so often like to do, Kathy wanted Carina to meet Pedro. Carina loves to know the 411 so she enthusiastically agreed to Pedro joining them. As Carina was leaving her house, she received a text from Kathy saying that Pedro was inviting a friend. At this point, Carina had no option, but to accept. Little did Carina know this “friend” was going to become her future husband, Juan

His Story

It was a busy Sunday as Juan worked on his loved Dodge Challenger. On that busy Sunday, his good friend Pedro contacted Juan to tell him that he really wanted him to meet Kathryn (Kathy), the girl he was dating. Pedro had never been so optimistic about a girl, so Juan stopped working on his car and decided to meet her. On the way to the meetup spot, Pedro texted Juan that Carina, a friend of Kathy's, was going to be there as well. Unbothered, Juan said that it was fine and thought he was just going to meet another girl. Juan thought they were going to get dinner, but was surprised when he learned they were going to a drive-in movie theater. Pedro and Juan rode in Kathy’s car to the drive-in. Once at the drive-in movie theater, Pedro suggested Juan should go to Carina’s car. This way Juan did not struggle watching the movie from the backseat and Carina would not be by herself. Before Juan left the car, Pedro told him to not talk too much while watching the movie. So Juan kept the conversation to a minimum until the movie was over. Juan then had the opportunity to get to know Carina a little better. He knew right away that she was a well educated-beautiful-unique-girl, but knew most likely they were not going to see each other again, because they were in the middle of the COVID pandemic and going out was very difficult. However, that Sunday night went quite well. They all learned they enjoyed hiking and fortunately, this was one of the few activities still allowed during COVID. So they made plans to go hiking the following weekend. The four of them ended up hiking at Joshua Tree National Park and Rancho Palos Verdes. Juan ended up really liking Carina and thus began their story of friendship and love…

Our Story

After the initial meeting, Carina and Juan became close friends over the course of the next nine months. They spent time at Joshua Tree, Rancho Palos Verdes, Disneyland, San Francisco, Muir Woods, Big Bear and more. As the romantic spark had been there from the beginning, they decided to take their friendship to the next level, an official first date! From there on out, they never looked back.
